Yo - Yo Ma: The Culture Of Us
For the release of his last album, Yo - Yo Ma was looking for a way to communicate that music unites us all regardless of barriers. This notion continued to stand as the guiding principal of this project. Whether between musical lines or motion through dance, the artwork for both the album cover and his posters were inspired by music born of unity.
To further emphasise the influence that music has on our cultural hubs, we set out to produce bespoke posters for each city, graphically representing monuments to human achievement throughout the world. In order to get the desired effect we started off with hand drawing that were then bent in around 3D models, finished with graphic texturing to make the pice feel hand-crafted.
To make the music video, we invited artists from all over the world to film themselves interpreting Yo - Yo Ma's version of Vivaldi and send it in. Using their video clips we created a three minute amalgamation of people celebrating their diversity, connecting them through lines of music.
